Because intellectual property is a dynamic field of law, this handbook is neither a comprehensive guide nor an accurate predictor of legal developments. The handbook is an effort by the Virginia Transportation Research Council to provide VDOT employees guidance in addressing the intellectual property issues they may face during the scope of their employment and is not a substitute for professional legal advice. This updated handbook is intended to replace the January 1999 edition.
