Striking a balance between the needs of commerce to carry heavy loads on roads and the need to preserve the significant investment in our transportation infrastructure is a challenging process. There are compelling needs from both sides of the picture that must be acknowledged. This a 19-minute educational and training DVD can be shown in its entirety for a comprehensive look at the subject. However, it was intentionally formatted in discrete segments of about five minutes each for viewing by different audiences. It covers subjects such as, pavement design basics, how loads impact roads, spring load limits, and finding a balance. The DVD also features engineers, law enforcement personnel, elected officials, and truckers and haulers being interviewed about their experiences with the issue of loads and roads in Minnesota.
