Abstract:This study investigated cell phone use and texting while driving, by teenage drivers, in the United States. It found that one third of 16-17 year old teenagers who text do so while driving. 50% of 16-17 year old teenagers have spoken on cell phones while driving. 48% of 12-17 year old passengers say they have been in a car, and felt themselves in danger, while the driver was texting. 40% of 12-17 year old passengers say they have been in a car, and felt themselves in danger, while the driver was speaking on a cell phone.
