Abstract:The State of Tennessee's Strategic Highway Safety Plan was developed by the Tennessee Strategic Highway Safety Committee with the goal of reaching a 10% fatality rate reduction, based on CY 2002 data, by the end of CY 2008, with a projected saving of 127 lives in CY 2008. The Tennessee Strategic Highway Safety Committee's vision of having all roadway users safely arrive at their destinations may be accomplished through its mission: reducing the number of crashes on Tennessee's roadways resulting in fatalities, injuries, and related economic losses through coordination of emergency response initiatives, engineering, enforcement, and education.
