• Abstract:
  In recent years, the commercial sector of the satellite industry has seen unprecedented growth. An expanding base of satellite applications and satellite services has increased the demand for satellites and has brought about changes in almost every aspect of the commercial space industry. In particular, the increasing demands placed on current and future communications satellites have had major effects on satellite design and production. This report examines the effects that the growth in low-earth orbit (LEO) and geosynchronous (GEO) satellite services has had on satellite manufacturers, service providers, and on the launch industry. It will also examine some of the implications that these changes hold for the future of the commercial space industry.
