The conference addressed economic and broader policy issues as well as technological perspectives. Further, focus was primarily on medium to long term aspects. The conference was primarily devoted to European issues, but papers were also addressing global aspects. The aim of the conference was to bring together economists, scientists, manufacturers, energy planners, transport planners, and decision makers in order to discuss the importance of the transport sector in relation to energy demand and long term environmental goals.
