Abstract:The report summarizes work completed on an extensive analysis of the attitudes of the judicial community (judges, prosecutors, and potential jurors) toward alcohol's impairment of driving abilities, and in the preparation of educational materials for dissemination to this community. Tasks completed under this contract included the conduct of two literature reviews: one of the experimental literature on the effects of alcohol on skills related to driving ("Effects of Low Doses of Alcohol on Driving-Related Skills: A Review of the Evidence"); and the other addressing behavior, knowledge, and attitudes toward driving while intoxicated ("Review of the Literature on Drinking and Driving Behavior, Knowledge About Alcohol, and Attitudes Toward Driving While Intoxicated"). Two educational documents were developed as a part of the effort: the scientifically-oriented booklet, "Alcohol Impairment and Its Effects on Driving" and the general audience pamphlet "Every Drop Counts". /Abstract from report summary page/
