Abstract:

Transit is seen by insurers as a risk with high loss potential. Since people are transported in large numbers, a single accident may yield many claims. One solution to this insurance situation that has been employed by transit system operators is to assume some of the risk of potential loss themselves. The handbook introduces risk management to transit professionals and outlines the elements of the risk management concept and process.
