This report analyzes the historical patterns of bus transit operations from 1960 to 1974 using data from 50 bus operations. Because of limitations on the available data, the analyzed data do not represent the universe of bus operations, nor is it a random sample, and therefore do not necessarily represent the industry. However, the trends in this sample may be indicative of the industry trends. The various trends examined in this report are patronage, supply of services, resources employed, revenues, costs, utilization of employees and vehicles, and fuel consumption.
