Abstract:

ITS Standards Advisories provide the transportation community with information and guidance on key activities related to ITS standards, with each Advisory focusing on a single ITS application and its corresponding standards. This advisory focuses on dynamic or variable message signs. The advisory provides a current view of work on the standard for dynamic message signs (DMS), with numerous links to more in-depth information including testing of the standard, tools for DMS procurement, and technical assistance. A table of the standards applicable to DMS developed by American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO) is provided. 4p.
