Abstract:The authors of the report have concluded that gasoline buses will provide an economical and generally advantageous substitute for street cars to care for the mass transportation requirements of the Pittsburgh district for the following reasons: (1) Street car service has become essentially un-suited to the transportation needs of the territory, and the authors prophesy that the system never be able to recover any substantial part of its earning power; and, (2) A gasoline bus system will make a recovery of passenger traffic possible and will prove more economical and advantageous.
