Abstract:

Report examines the conditions of roads and bridges maintained by local governments. It is based on 609 responses from towns and 1961 from counties to mailed survey questionnaires in country engineers and town/township governments in Fall 1994 and Spring 1995. Survey results are comparable with a 1987 study which asked similar questions. Report covers changes in road surface type, examines road conditions and discusses the priorities which local road managers use in managing the local transportation system.
