Abstract:This study report describes the effects of experimental fertilization and surface conditioning of a gravel borrow site which lacked a topsoil covering. In summary, borrow site revegetation by fireweed may be greatly enhanced by scarifying and fertilization, while woody plant development and growth is enhanced by scarifying and seeding. Project designers should consider these facts when setting borrow site revegetation goals and specifying treatments. (25 p.)
