Abstract:

This report gives an overview of the National Intelligent Transportation Infrastructure Initiative (NITI). NITI refers to the integrated electronics, communications, and hardware and software elements that are available to support Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) services and products. NITI has been designed to address the needs of three types of users: urban travelers, commercial carriers, and rural travelers. The report goes over the NITI concept by looking at: the vision, mission, background, goals and strategic objectives, strategy/initiative, management, and contact points.
