Alternative Title:
An ITS plan for Canada : en route to intelligent mobility
Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) include the application of advanced information processing, communications, sensor and control technologies and management strategies in an integrated manner to improve the functioning of the transportation system. This document presents the federal government's plan to stimulate the development and deployment of ITS in Canada to maximize the use and efficiency of existing infrastructure and to meet future mobility needs more responsibly. The plan outlines five pillars of activity: partnerships; developing Canada's ITS architecture; research and development; deployment and integration of ITS across Canada; and, strengthening Canada's ITS industry.
