    • Abstract:
The World Bank in partnership with United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) sponsored the Regional Technical Workshop on Transport and Transit Facilitation under the Initiative. Participants included public and private sector representatives from Bangladesh, Bhutan, India and Nepal. The genesis for the workshop lies in the requests from the sub-region for global case studies and experiences that may provide insights as South Asia moves towards increased integration in its transportation and trade. This report highlights the discussions, and in particular, the recommendations made by the country delegates in improving their transportation, trade facilitation and customs systems and in examining innovative options for effective public-private partnerships in transportation and logistics improvement. This report captures the hard work and collaboration of many individuals, including partners in client counties who made the workshop a success.
