Abstract:The use of videotaped evidence in the prosecution of DWI cases in Texas became widespread after legislative changes that became effective in 1984. An evaluation in nine counties indicated that there were no significant changes in the percentages of bench trials or guilty pleas. There was, however, an increase in time required for booking. It was recommended that steps be taken to minimize the cost of the unproductive method. /Abstract from report summary page/
