Abstract:This report demonstrates the benefits and potential pitfalls of deploying and operating an integrated freeway and arterial management system. In particular, it discusses the lessons learned about the Medical Center Corridor (MCC) Project deployed in San Antonio, Texas in concert with the Metropolitan Model Deployment Initiative (MMDI). The MCC links an expanded freeway and incident management system with a newly deployed arterial management operation in an effort to provide faster, safer and more fuel-efficient travel.
