Abstract:

The state Secretary of Transportation has set a goal of zero accidents for the

North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT). To guide the NCDOT towards

that goal, this safety manual sets for philosophy, goals, cardinal rules

(grounds for dismissal), policy and procedures. It covers such topics as the

return to work for injured employees, workplace violence, excavations, welding
