Abstract:Ohio-Kentucky-Indiana Regional Council of Governments (OKI) is composed of
eight counties: Dearborn in Indiana; Boone, Campbell and Kenton Counties in
Kentucky; and Butler, Clermont, Hamilton, and Warren Counties in Ohio. The OKI
Transportation Improvement Program (TIP) is the compilation of all
publicly-assisted transportation projects including both highway and transit
elements, constrained to available funding levels and prioritized by need.
It is the region's program for transportation improvement, the mechanism by
which local governments, acting together in a coordinated effort, place system
improvements in a comprehensive perspective in order to allocate limited
resources in the most beneficial manner. Preparation of the TIP is a
requirement in order to qualify the region for continuing eligibility for
federal highway and transit funding assistance. Although OKI produces the
TIP on an annual basis, each edition covers a period of four years. Along
with an overview of the transportation planning process through which the
projects are generated, the TIP provides a listing, by county, of all
federally-assisted highway and transit improvements that are contemplated
by municipal, county or state governments or transit authorities. 51p.
