Abstract:Public involvement on a small budget can result in a more effective outreach process. When an agency has more time than money, public involvement truly can start at "the earliest possible moment." Once stakeholders and existing organizations in the area are identified, public involvement begins, with people designing, publicizing and implementing a process that they have developed. This paper presents effective and low-cost strategies for involving the public in transportation decision making.
