This paper and presentation discuss some of the benefits of integrating travel demand models and desktop GIS (ArchInfo and ArcView for PCs) as a cost-effective and staff saving tool, as well as specific improvements to transportation planning made possible by the integration of travel demand models and GIS. Presents examples from the Thurston Regional Planning Council's Long Range Transportation Plan.
