An Assessment of Statistics on Alcohol-Related Problems
The report is presented as a contribution to the discussion of alcohol use and its related problems. Its aim is to provide an assessment of government and other statistics regarding certain alcohol-related problems; further research is suggested where needed and appropriate. The topics covered are: (1) human studies relating to the Fetal Alcohol Syndrome, (2) animal studies relating to the Fetal Alcohol Syndrome, (3) overall trends in the consumption of beverage alcohol and in problem drinking, (4) problem drinking among youth, (5) problem drinking among women, (6) alcohol-related casualties, and (7) the costs of alcohol abuse.
