Abstract:The purpose of the Arapaho‐Roosevelt National Forest Transportation System Alternatives Study is to identify and evaluate the feasibility of potential alternative transportation solutions to improve recreation and resource management at three of the most popular recreation sites in the national forest: Brainard Lake Recreation Area (BLRA), Guanella Pass (GP), and Mount Evans Recreation Area (MERA). This study identifies, verifies, and documents transportation, visitor, and resource concerns; assesses user capacity levels where appropriate; and identifies feasible short‐term and long‐term alternative transportation and congestion management solutions for these three sites.
