Abstract:This report highlights four metropolitan planning organizations (MPOs) that embrace transportation demand management (TDM) and nonmotorized transportation in an ambitious, conscious, and holistic manner at both regional and local scales. These MPOs, which represent a diversity of sizes and geographic areas, can serve as models for other MPOs seeking to take an holistic approach to TDM and nonmotorized transportation to further advance their agencies' goals. The case studies in this report answer how and why regional scale approaches to TDM and nonmotorzed transportation are embraced, and assesses how they contribute to meeting regional transportation goals.
