Abstract:

Exhaust and air intake noise is studied on five truck and bus diesel engines; the Detroit Diesel 6-71 and 8V-71, the Cummins NHC-250 and NTC-350 and the Mack ENDT-675. The noise source is isolated and its sound level measured at a distance of 50 feet in accordance with SAE-J366a test site conditions.
