Abstract:This report prepared by the Transportation Systems Center (TSC) concludes an analysis of the Technical Order (TO) costs and benefits, which was originally undertaken as part of the US Air Force Computer-aided Acquisition and Logistics Support (CALS) Program. This report examines the overall benefits of Automation, Reduced costs, and increased mission effectiveness. The Air Force Technical Order Management System (AFTOMS) Benefit Analysis Report is a rough order of magnitude study, comparing the costs associated with the current TO system, and the implementation and support costs of AFTOMS, in fulfilling Air Force mission requirements. This report also examines the potential savings that could be realized with the implementation of AFTOMS, by reducing or eliminating the inefficiencies associated with the current TO system during its acquisition, distribution, management and use.
