Abstract:The purpose of the contract was to conduct a benefit/cost analysis of seven alcohol safety countermeasures in order to determine the potential for successful implementation in terms of the estimated cost/effectiveness of each countermeasure and to provide NHTSA with baseline information for allocating research monies in the area of countermeasure development. The countermeasures analyzed were: (1) sober pill, (2) self tester, (3) evidential roadside tester, (4) non-cooperative breath tester, (5) alcohol safety interlock system, (6) continuous monitoring device, (7) operating time recorder. /Abstract from report summary page/
