Abstract:In order to obtain regional perspectives on the major problems and issues to be addressed in the International Border Crossing Study, required by Congress in Section 6015 of the Intermodal Surface Transportation Efficiency Act of 1991, a series of nine regional round tables were convened across the nation. One of these was held in Buffalo, NY, on June 7, 1993. This roundtable was sponsored by the Niagara Frontier Transportation Committee and the Federal Highway Administration. The primary focus of the meeting was on issues related to the Eastern US-Canada border. Lists of suggested topics in three broad areas of concern were provided the participants. The dicussion, however, was not confined to these topics, rather it ranged over those issues of greatest importance to the participants. The following is a summary of the day's discussion, drawn from the notes of the study team, written comments submitted by participants at the end of the session, and additional comments sent to the Vople Center subsequent to the discussion.
