Abstract:MOBILE is a computer model developed by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) for estimating emissions of air pollutants by motor vehicles. Using information on the types and ages of vehicles and on local driving conditions, MOBILE estimates emissions of various pollutants during each mile that different types of vehicles are driven. These emissions rates are combined with transportation planners' estimated of the number of miles vehicles are driven within the region to estimate area-wide total emissions of each pollutant by highway vehicles, usually during a day or year.
