Abstract:A miniature piezoresistive mouthpiece rotational accelerometer has been developed to measure the angular acceleration of a head during a simulated vehicle crash. Corrections have been electronically applied to the rotational accelerometer to reduce its linear sensitivity. The device has been successfully tested in the laboratory on a high speed shake table and in the field using humans and dummies. New techniques in photogrammetry have been developed to speed the reduction of motion picture data.
