This report was prepared in support of the Safety Data Action Plan (SDAP) sponsored by the Bureau of Transportation Statistics (BTS). This document supports the working group responsible for SDAP research project #2 - Develop Common Criteria for Reporting Injuries and Deaths. It details the reporting criteria for accidental fatalities and injuries across the modes, summarizing the relevant text from the Code of Federal Regulations and agency public material. This report also describes how fatality and injury information is captured and reported with agency accident/incident databases.
