  This executive digest presents a summary of the information that is contained in the Handbook of Urban Rail Noise and Vibration Control. The handbook is a comprehensive review of the state-of-the-art in the field. The digest is intended for all those who would like an overview of the handbook's contents, either as an introduction to the handbook or as a source of information in and of itself. The text provides information useful in integrating noise and vibration control into transit system planning and operations. The tables, which follow the text, summarize technical information contained in the handbook on control treatments for wayside, vehicle, station, and groundborne noise and vibration.
