Abstract:A mathematical model of the Boeing 720B aircraft and autopilot has been derived. The model is representative of the 720B aircraft for continuous flight within a flight envelope defined by a Mach number of .4 at 20,000 feet altitude in a cruise configuration. Certain data relative to the model were not available but provision has been made for insertion when the data is received from the Boeing Co. In developing the model it was assumed that when used with a cockpit simulator it would be exercised by experience pilots simulating normal airline operations. This underlying assumption allowed for a reduction in the model complexity for programming purposes.
