This U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) Research, Development, and Technology (RD&T) Strategic Plan presents DOT’s transportation research priorities and strategies to support the goals defined in the Department’s Strategic Plan for FY 2018–2022. This RD&T Strategic Plan is an update to the original plan published in 2017.1 This plan meets the requirement set forth in section 6503 of the Fixing America’s Surface Transportation (FAST) Act for the development of a five-year strategic plan to guide future Federal transportation RD&T activities.
