Abstract:This pamphlet describes how the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is the arm of the Department of Transportation responsible for the promotion, regulation, and safety of civil aviation, and for safe and efficient use of airspace which is shared by both civil and military aircraft. In carrying out its civil responsibilities, FAA's job is to make certain that only qualified pilots and aircraft take to the air.
