Abstract:

Najeeb Halaby (1915-2003) served from 1961 to 1965 as the 2nd U.S. Federal Aviation Agency Administrator. While working as a test pilot in the U.S. Navy, Halaby made the first transcontinental flight by a jet aircraft (May 1, 1945).
