Abstract:Wichita State University (WSU) - National Institute for Aviation Research (NIAR) completed an initial additive manufacturing research project under the Federal Aviation Administration’s (FAA) Joint Advanced Materials and Structures (JAMS) program between 2016 and 2019. The project focused on the development of a framework for the qualification of polymer-based additive manufactured (PBAM) materials including guidelines and recommendations for their characterization, testing, design and utilization. Through this initiative, a complete qualification of ULTEM 9085 printed on a Stratasys Fortus 900mc was created along with material and process specifications. This report documents the qualification program along with complementary research and lessons learned.
