This note discusses preliminary thoughts on modifying the SRI developed hump yard profile simulation, PROFILE, to simulate the Dowty retarder system. This simulation model has the capacity of simulating the roll of individual cars from the hump into the classification track, including the operation of the conventional retarder system.
