This report helps State driver education program administrators review their current data collection, identify additional sources of relevant information, manage operations, assess the status of driver education, demonstrate accomplishments, and provide a foundation for possible research. Driver education State administrators can use their own data and information from partner agencies to learn about the State’s driver education program, the impact of the program, identify areas for improvement, and set goals. Administrators can use data to answer questions and monitor changes in the program. These novice teen data collection guidelines for driver education will assist States and driver education providers in meeting the Novice Teen Driver Education and Training Administrative Standards (NTDETAS) Section 1.3 Data Collection. This document provides a data inventory tool to further assist States in their data collection. States have thousands of data sets across many databases. It is helpful to narrow down which data should be included in the inventory overall. Knowing what information the driver education program has access to can help determine if the correct data is being collected and what is still needed.
