Abstract:This session of the Transportation Librarians Roundtable marks a return to the group updates format. Michael Molina discusses the origins of the Pooled Fund Study, current work as it gets ready to wind down in 2025, and outcomes from the project. With 18 members from states across the U.S., the study resulted in digitization of thousands of materials, creation of a transportation librarian’s toolkit, and development of LibGuides on transportation research topics. Enid White shared news from AASHTO’s summer Research Advisory Committee (RAC) meeting held at the end of July. There were good discussions regarding artificial intelligence in the transportation world. White provided an overview of a panel of 4 individuals who talked about different areas of AI. Cara Marcus talked about the Special Libraries Association (SLA) Transportation Community. This year’s SLA Annual Meeting was held at the University of Rhode Island and was the first in-person business meeting since before the pandemic. There was a social meeting of the transportation and engineering librarian communities, informal meetings, posters, and educational events.
