Abstract:Karen Neinstadt, Reference and Outreach Librarian at the Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) Library, presents an overview of who uses data at MnDOT, types of data used, and how the data is used. Neinstadt discusses communication plans and the need for MnDOT employees to know the ethnic populations in the community when preparing information sessions about a transportation project. Data provided by the MnDOT Library is important for ensuring proper cultural relevance, translating materials, observing various information-seeking behaviors, and marketing products appropriately to the communities they serve. This Transportation Librarians Roundtable also covers how the MnDOT Library gathers and analyzes the data.
