ROSA P serves as an archival repository of USDOT-published products including scientific findings, journal articles, guidelines, recommendations, or other information authored or co-authored by USDOT or funded partners.
As a repository, ROSA P retains documents in their original published format to ensure public access to scientific information.
In our discussions with various railroad personnel, suppliers, and consultants, we are left with the impression that yard design know-how is possessed by a handful of people scattered within the railroad industry. Most of their valuable knowledge is either undocumented or obscurely documented. The need for a systematic compilation of this scattered knowledge is obvious. If is the goal of our current research to fulfill this need. The paper will discuss a few specific hardware components and document their functions.
