Abstract:Senior Librarian Kendra Stoll shares historical preservation efforts at the Caltrans Transportation Library. Historic preservation began with C.R. “Bob” Krieger, who collected over 30 years of maps, photographs, inactive reports and records, personal recollections, and objects related to the California Department of Transportation’s history. Milestones for the library include collecting the Highway Recollections Oral Histories (1977-1999), the formation of the Caltrans History Preservation Committee (1984-2018), collecting the Loma Prieta Earthquake Oral Histories (1989), digitization of California Highways and Public Works (2019), and digitization of early Biannual and Annual Reports dating from 1895. Collections are available from the Caltrans Transportation Library website at https://dot.ca.gov/programs/transportation-library/library-collection
