Abstract:This working paper discusses data collection methods in federal statistical surveys, gives illustrative uses of telephone interviewing, and describes research and development issues relating to telephone data collection. The report is intended primarily to be useful to Federal agencies in their data collection efforts. Seminars will be organized to discuss the report with interested agency personnel. The Subcommittee was chaired by Robert D. Tortora, Statistical Reporting Service, Department of Agriculture.
