Abstract:

ATC facility voice recordings and flight progress strips formerly were retained for 30 days. Since experience has shown that these records are rarely referred to after fifteen days, unless connected with a specific accident or incident, the normal retention period has been reduced to 15 days. Savings afforded by this reduction will total thousands of dollars annually.
