Abstract:

This advisory circular (AC) provides guidelines for the conduct of certification tests relating to smoke detection, penetration, and evacuation, and to evaluate related Airplane Flight Manual (AFM) procedures. These guidelines may be used to reduce the degree of subjective judgment needed in conducting tests and evaluating test results. While this AC is not mandatory, it offers a method of demonstrating compliance with the applicable airworthiness requirements.
