Abstract:This advisory circular (AC) describes two acceptable criteria, but not the only means, for the type certification of airships that may be used by an applicant in showing compliance with 5 21.17(b) of the Federal Aviation Regulations (FAR), part 21. General guidance relative to airship type certification is also provided. This material is neither mandatory nor regulatory in nature and does not constitute a regulation.
