Abstract:

This advisory circular provides generalized guidance for compatible land use planning in the vicinity of both new and existing airports. It is intended to assist airport sponsors, local government officials, and both airport and urban planners by presenting techniques and ideas available for planning and achieving long-term compatibility between airports and their environs. It also provides guidance which may be used in developing noise control plans as encouraged by the Department of Transportation Aviation Noise Abatement Policy issued on November 18, 1976.
