In recent years, state transportation agencies (STAs) have made investments in creating 3D engineered models in design, but few STAs are realizing the benefits of using these models in construction engineering and inspection. Agencies that use the models and related survey technology report time savings, safety improvements, increased confidence and transparency in measurements, increased confidence in verifying stakeless construction, and an ability to keep pace with accelerated construction methods such as automated machine guidance (AMG).
